Who is responsible

In short

• This website sets no cookies and uses no analytics or tracking tools.
• Fonts are served from our own host, so your browser doesn’t contact Google.
• We only process your email address if you join the waitlist or write to us.
• The Checkless app keeps your data on your iPhone. We have no server that receives it.

Hosting

This website is hosted by Vercel Inc., 440 N Barranca Avenue #4133, Covina, CA 91723, USA. When you open the site, Vercel processes the data your browser sends automatically: IP address, date and time, the page requested, referrer, browser and operating system. This is needed to deliver the site and protect it against attacks (Art. 6 (1)(f) GDPR, our legitimate interest in a secure, working website). Vercel processes this data on our behalf under a data processing agreement and keeps the logs only briefly. Vercel is certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, which the European Commission recognises as an adequate level of protection for transfers to the USA (Art. 45 GDPR).

Waitlist

If you join the waitlist, we use your email address to tell you when Checkless launches and to send occasional news about the app. The legal basis is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR).

We use the double opt-in process: after signing up you receive an email asking you to confirm. Only after you confirm are you added to the list. If you don’t confirm, we store nothing. To prove your consent, we store the time of sign-up and confirmation and the IP address used to confirm.

We send these emails and keep the list with Resend (Plus Five Five, Inc., San Francisco, USA), our processor under a data processing agreement. Resend stores the data in the USA. Resend is certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, which the European Commission recognises as an adequate level of protection (Art. 45 GDPR). We don’t measure whether you open our emails or click links in them.

You can withdraw your consent at any time with the unsubscribe link in every email or by writing to us. We then delete your address from the list. We keep the proof of your consent for up to three years in case we need to show that you had agreed (Art. 6(1)(c) and (f) GDPR).

Contacting us

If you email us, we use your address and message to reply (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR if your request relates to a contract, otherwise Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). We delete the correspondence once it is no longer needed, unless legal retention periods apply.

The Checkless app

The app works without an account. Your to-dos, app budgets, course progress and settings are stored only on your device, and we don’t receive them. The apps you choose to pause are selected through Apple’s Screen Time framework, which gives Checkless anonymous tokens instead of app names. Purchases are handled by Apple through the App Store. We receive no payment details. Apple’s own privacy policy applies to the App Store.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to:

• access the data we hold about you (Art. 15),
• have it corrected (Art. 16) or deleted (Art. 17),
• restrict its processing (Art. 18),
• receive it in a portable format (Art. 20),
• object to processing based on our legitimate interests (Art. 21),
• withdraw your consent at any time, with effect for the future (Art. 7(3)).
